FAQs
Can I sit a National Water Hygiene Course remotley?
Yes, we can deliver the EUSR National Water Hygiene course remotely. We currently use Zoom as our delivery platform. You will require access to a computer with a microphone, speakers/headphones and web camera. We do not accept mobile telephones although a large pad that can be stood up is acceptable. You will be given further guidance in the Joining Instructions.
Why do I need a Water Hygiene Card?
You are required to register on this scheme to gain access to operational and restricted sites. The EUSR card issued here is also known as the ‘Blue Card’.
How long does the training take?
This training course is three hours long, and you will have to pass a 25 question multichoice test.
What happens if I fail the test?
The training covers everything you need to help you understand your responsibilities and will provide you with the knowledge to pass the test.
If you fail the test, you will not be allowed to work on restricted operations.
Our role is to ensure you understand what is required to pass the test. We will work with you until you do.
Can I sit the course remotely?
Yes you can. Please get in touch for further details.
What if I need a card quickly?
If you need to register for an EUSR National Water Hygiene card or need a refresher quickly, please get in touch and we may be able to train you within a day or so, subject to trainer availability.
Can I sit a SHEA Water Passport Course remotely?
While technically yes, Alpha Water Hygiene do not deliver this course remotely. This is a full day and requires the participation of the delegates to get the most from the course. As such we can deliver this course at a venue of your choosing or we can provide one.
Why do I need a SHEA Water Card?
The majority of water service providers will only hire you if you hold a SHEA Water card. It demonstrates your understanding of safety, health and environmental awareness.
How long does the training take?
The training course is six hours long, and you will have to pass a multi-choice test.
What happens if I fail the test?
The training covers everything you need to help you understand your responsibilities and will provide you with the knowledge to pass the test.
However, people do fail from time to time, and as such, you would have to sit the test again.
I have heard that the SHEA Water Card is the same as a CSCS Card?
No that is not true, although the SHEA Water scheme is partnered with CSCS to allow water industry workers access to construction sites for purposes of utilities work without the need for a separate CSCS card.
What happens if I cannot attend a course I have paid for?
If you advise us up to seven days before the course date, we will refund 100% of your payment. If you fail to show up or advise us less than seven days before the course date, we are not able to refund your payment as your place is regarded as confirmed at that time.
Can I pay by cheque or cash on the day?
No, you must pay prior to the day by BACS or Credit/Debit Card.
If you cancel the course will I get my money back?
Yes, if we need to cancel your course, you will receive a full refund. However, we will offer you an alternative date first.
We are also able to offer you a seat on a remote training course, either on the same or alternative day to suit yourself.
Does Alpha Water Hygiene work with resellers?
We take the quality of our training very seriously and to ensure all delegates get the best possible experience we do not allow our training courses to be resold. If we identify that a client is doing this, we will cease business with them immediately and reserve the right to retain all monies received.
Can you deliver a course at my premises?
Yes, provided you have suitable premises, we can come to you. Please e-mail us at enquiries@alphawaterhygiene.co.uk with the details, and we will make the arrangements.
I have heard that I can sit a refresher online.
Yes, in certain circumstances you can. Please get in touch if you need help with this.
How many can attend a course?
As per the EUSR rules for both Water Hygiene and SHEA Water, a maximum of 12 delegates can attend a course at a time.
How many courses do you have available per day?
We can deliver two Water Hygiene Courses but only one SHEA Water Course per day.
How long is the card valid?
Your card is valid for three years.
If I lose my card, do I have to sit another training course?
Not if your card is still valid. We can help you apply for a replacement.
My card has run out, and I need one quickly! Can you help?
If you cannot work because your card has expired, please get in touch. We will do our best to get you back up and running quickly.
